Bunched: Estelle Flowers

Is there anything better than a beautiful bunch of flowers? Not many things, if any. This time round we chat with Jolene of Estelle Flowers in Dunedin about a recent floral arrangement she’s pretty pleased with…

What are the flowers/foliage in your bunch?
Local Black Magic roses with Quicksand roses from Colombia, delphiniums, trachaelium, seaholly, viburnum berries, local dahlias from my dahlia guy Neville, tricyrtis, locally foraged clethra, smoke bush, hydrangea and jasmine, butterfly gladioli and scabiosa from a local specialist grower.

Why/how did you choose them?
They suited the strong moody florals brief and what’s in season and brought in to us by local growers.

What kind of vase/vessel would you put it in?
They are in a wide glass cylinder for stability and to show off the stems.

Favourite flower/foliage right now and why?
Hyacinth flower for the fragrance and buddleia salviafolia currently in bud with a soft grey lilac foliage is divine – brought in today from a local grower

The best thing that happened to you this week?
Cedar hot tub under a clear night sky with a champagne.

Something good to listen to while arranging flowers?
For this bride it was Nick Cave – she had ‘The Ship Song‘ playing as she walked down the aisle.
