We love a good cinematic backstory, so had a little swoon about Moochi’s AW14 range, purportedly inspired by ‘lady tiger’ Elvira Hancock from the 1983 cult flick Scarface, played by an immaculate, ethereal, honey-dipped Michelle Pfeiffer.
Refined to a cool edit of 18 separates, Moochi’s newest collection is a covetable capsule of tapered trousers (some in buttersoft slouchy leather) spaghetti strap cami tops and dresses, toffee silk, dip-dyed faux fur, bolts of cobalt blue, a must-have signature ‘cougar’ print and a dusting of sequins.
Moochi Autumn 14 will be available instore and online from 21 February, and if you’re lucky enough to live in a Moochi town, all stores will be celebrating the launch with makeup artists and plenty of bubbly, so you can slip on those luxe looks while you celebrate, and recreate Elvira’s timeless style while you sip.
We found this gritty little snippet from the film, a much-repeated line played out between doomed lovers Tony Montana and Elvira Hancock…
“You know what your problem is, pussycat?”
“What is my problem, Tony?”
“You got nothing to do with your life. Why don’t you get a job? Do something. Be a nurse. Work with blind kids, lepers, that kind of thing. Anything beats you waiting around all day, waiting for me to fuck you, I’ll tell you that.”
“Don’t toot your horn, honey, you’re not that good.”
