While the Isabel Marant x H&M collection divided the fashion world (reactions from fever pitch to sneers of disdain and those, like me, and the wonderful Garance Dore, keeping the faith but a little bit on the fence), Left Bank’s reigning queen of cool moved quietly forward and released new mainline and Etoile collections.
Shaking off the high street cloak (and very likely several much-loved signature styles we’ll see no more of thanks to the collab), in true insouciant Parisian style, Marant emerged fresh and sassy with tres cool new collections to assist our amnesia over that small (but profitable, ooh la la!) haute hiccup.
My pick this time (though not always the case, Hawaiian print overload season, I’m looking at you) is Etoile. A serious nod to Japan, from the outright (slogans) to the more subtle (quilted indigo denim, obi belts and blue and white textile prints) but, of course, with a beaucoup French twist. Je t’aime!
My picks? All of it. But in particular all of the jackets and coats.
Special thanks to Fabric for lending us their copy of the lookbook, and for bringing a whole bunch of it into New Zealand in early 2014… Love you guys… x
