Helena is modelling donated items for the #bridgethegapproject, a new initiative by Amanda Betts which helps us help others help themselves. We do this through Amanda’s work with CYFS’ Engaging Challenging Youth’ Team, Fostering Kids NZ and Youth Justice Residence.
Amanda uses skills she’s learnt in her many years in the fashion industry, from being a model herself in the 80s to going on to founding one of New Zealand’s biggest model agencies, to run bootcamps for teens with the goal of boosting self-confidence and giving valuable life skills through improved self-image.
Bootcamps include speaking and presenting through to fashion-style photoshoots and kitting out the kids in outfits to give them a sense of self pride. The project is proudly supported by Mirror Makeup, Servilles Academy and photographers Megan Bowers-Vette (me) and Regan Butler.
Donations of clothing, to either sell in one of the many #bridgethegapproject fashion events or to be given to one of the program’s participants, are much appreciated. You can get in touch with Amanda through her website Over 2 U.
