We’re loving what the Overland brand has to offer lately. They’ve always been proudly family-owned, and had a long stretch of slick, high-production campaigns before dropping off our radar a little bit – that is until recently. With a significant portion of the talented team that briefly managed to flare the cool-factor of Glassons having now jumped ship to Overland, it’s no surprise to us, and we can only look forward to more of the same.
In line with this more en pointe aesthetic and manifesto, Overland recently contacted us with the offer of running this shoot exclusively. Celebrating an undeniably covetable new Overland capsule designed by the young New York-living Isabella Anselmi and shot and styled by two Undone creative faves Andrei Blidarean and Danielle Clausen, we couldn’t have been more happy to do so…
Hey Isabella, how did New York City influence this collection?
Living and working in New York is fast paced, but the women who live here seem to handle it effortlessly. They are strong, cultured and really creative with their style. I wanted to create a capsule collection that encompassed that vibe and mentality, and what this woman would want to wear in all aspects of her busy life. I have beautiful friends here building really exciting lives in New York, and I just wanted to design something that they would want to wear.
Do you dress differently in NYC than when you come back home?
My style in New York is definitely much more eclectic. The weather is extreme and the lifestyle is really hectic, so my style changes immensely on a daily basis. And with the incredible vintage finds, really inspiring street style here and just creative culture in general, my look evolves daily.
What were your other key inspirations and influences for this range?
I was really attracted to a vintage aesthetic when designing this collection, 90s chunky block heels and croc details – the kind of gems that you find hidden in vintage stores, but reworked with a modern edge.
What’s your favourite style?
The crocodile mules! I’ve been living in them! They just seem to go with every outfit I own – I wore them yesterday with tailored crepe pants and a long-sleeved motocross shirt.
More ways to wear?
I love juxtaposing high-end pieces with low-end pieces and masculine with feminine. I’ve been wearing the mules with beat-up vintage Levi’s 501’s and a tailored men’s tuxedo jacket. Or the simple tailored loafer that has a menswear edge with a lavender silk wrap dress.
Who are your main style muses?
Women like Grace Coddington and Linda Rodin, who have an innate sense of style that transcends age. Their character, vitality and playfulness show through in their fashion choices; they prove that style is less about beauty, and more about a general sense of joie de vivre.
