Wildflowers: Part Two

On approaching Aimee of Hope & Organic to see if we could use some of her wonderful photos for our initial post on wildflowers, we discovered an equal love of wild flowers and wild nature, and knew we had to have Aimee tell her own story as well…

I fell in love with wildflowers during the summer months when I was living in Sweden. When the cold seasons turned into spring and summer they seemed to explode, adorning the landscape in an untamed beauty of colour. One of my favourite pastimes was to go jogging to pick bouquets for our apartment and table settings.

I find that wildflowers give a rustic, organic and bright feeling unmatched by store-bought flowers. I also like the fact that while completely random, wild flowers never seem to be over-styled.

When we moved back to New Zealand and I started photographing my food more seriously, a lot of my earlier pictures were adorned with wildflower arrangements from the beach outside my parent’s home in Papamoa. I especially love incorporating the ‘fluffy’ stalks hidden throughout the sand dunes. Collecting them and being close to nature always makes me happy.
